FIA says two arrested for posing as military officials to defraud citizens of millions

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s Cyber Crime Circle on Wednesday claimed to have rounded up two individuals for their alleged involvement in defrauding citizens of millions of rupees while posing as personnel of an intelligence agency.

While one of the accused posed himself to be a major in the Pakistan Army the other claimed to be the pilot for the head of an intelligence agency.

Six mobile phones, two laptops and other electronic devices, fake documents of ministries, photographs in military uniform and fake identity cards have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.

Sources said a woman is also suspected to be a member of the gang and raids are being conducted for her arrest.

According to officials, Inspector Sarim Ali Khan's team, under the supervision of Cyber Crime Cell Additional Director Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, arrested Jamshed Muhammad Khan and Shaigan Jamshed from the Gulberg area. The accused are allegedly involved in defrauding innocent citizens while posing as intelligence officials.

The suspects had received an amount of Rs10.05 million from a citizen through a bank account in the name of customs clearance.

After their arrest, six mobile phones, two laptops, a hard drive, DVR and internet devices were also seized from the accused.

In addition to this, several fake documents related to the Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Interior, Federal Board of Revenue and Ministry of Commerce were also recovered from the possession of the accused.

Further, photographs in army uniforms and fake official cards were also recovered from their mobile phones.
