Audio allegedly featuring judge’s wife surfaces

Clip implies Judge Zafar Iqbal's wife 'hopeful' of Imran's acquittal in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD:

An audio allegedly featuring wife of Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal, who was hearing the Toshakhana criminal reference against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, surfaced on Tuesday.

In the audio, the judge’s wife, Nadia Zafar Shaheen, is purportedly in conversation with another woman, Shaheen Parveen, saying the “case is with Zafar”.

In response, Parveen allegedly says, “yes, absolutely”.

The voice, believed to be of Nadia says, “For this reason, we have restricted our movement”, adding, “we have a plan… once he is acquitted by the grace of Almighty…”

The voice, purportedly of Nadia, says, “We will visit you to have a good time” to which Parveen replies in the affirmative.

Responding to Nadia, Parveen allegedly says, “Currently he (Imran) is under mental stress”.

Nadia purportedly answers, “Zafar holds talks with Kashif bhai”.

Last month, judge Iqbal was transferred to session west from session east.

On November 22, 2022 the Election Commission of Pakistan had sent the Toshakhana reference to the trial court for initiating criminal proceedings against the PTI chief under sections 137, 170 and 167 of the Election Act, 2017.
