When Parineeti Chopra said she would never marry a politician

The actor got engaged to AAP leader Raghav Chadha on Saturday

In a surprising turn of events, Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra found her fairytale prince in Indian politician Raghav Chadha, despite previously expressing a firm stance against marrying someone from the political realm.

After her engagement, an old interview has been making rounds on social media where the Hasee Toh Phasee actor stated that she’d never marry a politician. “Never say never – to love and otherwise” tweeted a fan and many agreed!

The said interview is from 2019 when Parineeti and Siddharth Malhotra were promoting their film, Jabariya Jodi. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti said she will never marry a politician. The show’s host dug deep and brought back the clip at the time of her engagement. He tweeted, "I don't want to marry any politician. I don't want to marry any politician ever," said Parineeti Chopra in a fun rapid-fire with me a few years back."

When asked about which politician she’d marry, the Ishqzaade actor simply said, “The problem is I don't want to marry any politician. There are too many good options but I don't want to marry any politician ever."

After Parineeti’s engagement, social media users had a field day with the old interview. From humour to lessons on love and perspectives, the microblogging site has lots of opinions. “Social media archives are brutal,” wrote a user. Another said, “People change with time. Sometimes, the choices, we don't wish to make are the ones we end up doing first!”

Parineeti and Raghav exchanged engagement vows in a private ceremony held on Saturday, finally confirming the long-standing rumours about their relationship. The event, attended by approximately 150 guests, including close family members and prominent political figures, was celebrated with joy and excitement. The couple took to their Instagram accounts to share the news with their fans, along with the release of their first-ever engagement photographs.
