Former Miss Universe and renowned Indian star Sushmita Sen had been busy recuperating from her health scare. While Sen previously made headlines after she revealed she suffered a heart attack and the consequential angioplasty, the actor, 47, has now gone back to work. Sen is now prepping for the third season of her crime thriller, Aarya

Speaking about how her onscreen character is close to her real-life personality, the Main Hoon Na star shared they both share strong maternal instincts. Sen was quoted by Hindustan Times, “Aarya is synonymous with motherhood. She is the epitome of grace and strength. I am elated to be associated with her story and her journey of motherhood. I admire Aarya for being a warrior and surpassing every hurdle that comes her way.”

Sen describes Aarya as “bold and has emerged as a fierce lioness who wants to protect her children at any cost”. “I have raised my two daughters single-handedly and I know I can go to any extent for them just like Aarya does in the series. I thoroughly resonated with her zeal to move ahead, no matter what and prevail through every hindrance.” Sushmita adopted Renee in 2000, when she was 24 years old. She adopted Alisah in 2010.

She added, “Motherhood is the most beautiful thing in the world and I absolutely enjoy playing such a strong mother onscreen as well. Moreover, I hope audiences are looking forward to Aarya Season 3.”

Previously, in an interview with Film Companion, Sen, who doesn't shy away from speaking about her daughters, commented about how she has raised them. The actor said that she assured both Renee and her younger sister Alisah that there are certain aspects of their lives that she, as a mother, will never meddle in. A career is one of them.

Renee made her acting debut last year with the short film Suttabaazi. Asked about her daughter’s debut, Sen said, “There’s always anxiety because it’s not just a profession, it’s also your child moving into her own, finding her own… And my little Renee, who is not little anymore, but for me, she is still a baby… I feel my younger one is a lot more mature, it happens, they’re completely different. Now, out of the two, my elder one has decided to become an actor, and this is where her decision is always going to be paramount.”
