Five of a family injured in fire

Officials say short circuit in dilapidated wiring cause the blaze in residential building

KARACHI:

A fire broke out due to a short circuit in a three-storey residential building in Liaquatabad, injuring a couple and their three children.

Reportedly, the fire started on the second floor of the building and quickly spread to the entire structure.

After being informed, two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour. The injured family was brought to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital.

According to a police spokesperson, the injured individuals were identified as Saleem, his wife Amreen, and their three children, Hifza, 18, Maryam, 12, and Sufyan, 14.

A rescue official reported that the furniture on all three floors had been burnt to ashes. With the timely response of the fire brigade, nearby buildings were saved from the fire,” he added.

The incident was caused by a short circuit on the second floor of the building. The police are currently investigating the incident.
