The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has renewed its call for an investigation into alleged audio leaks purportedly featuring private conversations of the country’s top political leaders, bureaucrats, and judges.
Following the emergence of yet another audio clip allegedly involving family members of the country’s top judge on Sunday, PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry lamented that the Supreme Court did not take up the party’s petition filed in October last year seeking constitution of an inquiry commission to probe the audio leaks.
Referring to the earlier alleged audio leaks from the Prime Minister House and Office, Fawad said the PTI repeatedly requested the Supreme Court to take note of the leaks.
“This trend is so disastrous that if the office of the prime minister of the country is so insecure that every meeting there is being bugged, then who will be safe?” he said while questioning the role of intelligence agencies in the leaks.
“In which civilised country is this the role of agencies?” he asked.

Earlier today, an audio clip allegedly featuring the mother-in-law of a top Supreme Court judge and the wife of a PTI lawyer went viral on social media wherein both could purportedly be heard discussing the ongoing political crisis and a high-profile case being heard by the apex court.
Referring to the conversation in the alleged leak, Fawad said the Supreme Court did not fix their petition on audio leaks for hearing despite the passage of several months.

He said that after judges, politicians, and bureaucrats, housewives have also become the victim of “this third-class thinking and no one can do anything” about it.
Under the fair trial law, illegal phone-tapping is punishable by up to three years in prison, he added.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has demanded a forensic analysis of the latest audio clip, calling for the judges mentioned in the audio recording to step down.
Addressing a press conference in Faisalabad earlier today, Sanaullah urged Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial to take suo motu notice and order forensic of the audio recording to establish its authenticity and veracity.
