LAKKI MARWAT:

Religious Affairs Minister Maulana Abdul Shakoor, who was killed in a car accident in Islamabad on Saturday, was laid to rest at Tajbi Khel, his village in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday.

Earlier, thousands of people offered funeral prayers of Shakoor who belonged to the JUI-F.

Some political personalities like JUI-F Central Amir Maulana Muhammad Shirani and MNA Mohsin Dawar as well as Lakki Marwat’s deputy commissioner, district police officer and regional police officer were also present on the occasion. Later, hundreds of people complained that they were unable to attend the funeral prayers due broken roads which delayed their timely arrival.

Mufti Abdul Shahkoor came from a very poor family and his funeral prayers were also attended by poor people and the JUI-F workers. On Saturday, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman led the funeral prayer of Shakoor in Islamabad.

Caretaker K-P Chief Minister Azam Khan, however, expressed grief over the death of the federal minister. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. He said that the untimely and sudden death of the Maulana was indeed shocking for everyone.
