The youngest Nobel prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has announced a new book, a decade after her first tell-all, I Am Malala. The book is untitled for now. The 25-year-old took to social media and shared the announcement.
"I am overjoyed to announce that I am working on my next book!" the activist penned on social media. "The last few years of my life have been marked by extraordinary transformation — finding independence, partnership and, ultimately, myself. This will be my most personal book yet and I can’t wait for you to read it."
She went on to add, "This October will be a decade since I Am Malala was published, shortly after my 16th birthday. I am excited to share what has happened since and take the next step in my journey."
In the last ten years, Malala has had a few life-altering instances. Alongside actively advocating for girls' education, she has now stepped into the world of production. In 2021, Malala partnered with Apple Inc to produce several dramas. Last year, she signed a deal for three films, reported Variety.
Her production company Extracurricular has partnered with the indie studio A24 for a still-untitled feature documentary on the legendary "haenyeo" society of fisherwomen, who live on South Korea's Jeju Island. She also went on board as an executive producer for not one but two Oscar-shortlisted films, Joyland and Stranger at the Gate.
Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced the memoir Monday. It is currently untitled and has no scheduled release date. Atria is calling the new book a “breathtaking story of recovery and search for identity, a candid exploration of her coming-of-age in the public spotlight, and an intimate look at her life today.” Young readers and picture book editions are also planned.
