Two factories gutted in New Karachi

Fire brigade officials said that the fire was controlled to a large extent by midnight but not fully extinguished

Efforts to control the fire in two factories in New Karachi Industrial Area continued till late in the night on Wednesday.

Fire brigade officials said that the fire was controlled to a large extent by midnight but not fully extinguished. Till the last reports, the process of trying to control the fire were going on.

Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rahman on Wednesday said that 10 fire tenders and bowsers participated in fire extinguishing operation in the two factories at New Karachi Industrial Area.

There was no loss of life in the incidents, but, Rahman said, there should be a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.

The administrator supervised the extinguishing process himself and instructed the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) to keep the fire brigade personnel present at site till the fire is completely extinguished and the cooling process is completed, said a spokesperson of the KMC. The CFO said that there were difficulties in putting out the blaze due to the narrow space, but the firemen were engaged in controlling the fire with all their skills. Administrator while talking to the media said that officials the New Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) have been given assurance that the fire brigade personnel are continuing all their efforts and as the cooling process completed.
