The election commission has finalized the draft of a new law that will allow only voters with a computerized ID card to cast their vote.
Sources said the election commission has forwarded a draft of the Election Laws Amendment Act of 2010 to the Law Ministry.
Under the new law, no one will be allowed to cast a vote on the basis of their passport, driver's licence, educational degree and other documents.
The law ministry has not yet replied to the draft on the computerized ID card. The draft also proposes amendments in the Electoral Rules Act of 1974.
