Priyanka Chopra set to star alongside Idris Elba, John Cena in ‘Heads of State’
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is turning out to be a jack of all trades! With two new projects already under her belt—Love Again and Citadel—that are lined up for their premieres this year, the star is now teaming up with Amazon Studios, this time alongside John Cena and Idris Elba, for an upcoming film titled Heads of State, as per Deadline.
Taking to Instagram, Chopra herself announced her new latest venture by sharing a screenshot of Deadline's exclusive piece. "On to the next venture," wrote the Quantico actor, tagging her co-stars in the post.
Although most details about the plot are kept under wraps, the storyline has been described as "a cross between the popular films Air Force One and Midnight Run." As per the publication, the film's cameras will also begin rolling in May 2023. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, Heads of State will circle around a script by written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec from an initial draft penned by Harrison Query.
Chopra is a multifaceted artist who has won multiple honours as an actor and producer and has appeared in over 60 international and Hollywood films. With her memoir Unfinished, she has also earned the title of New York Times bestselling author in February 2021. Chopra alongside Richard Madden, Leslie Manville and Stanley Tucci, is also set to star in Prime Video's much-awaited spy thriller show Citadel, which will premiere on April 28.
In a recent interview, the show's director Anthony Russo, praised Chopra's physical abilities to lead the action in the show, stating that her character drives much of the action in the series, with Madden's character playing catch up. "This is a genre that traditionally has a male lead. And so, what was interesting to us was upending that. Priyanka is really gifted physically. She is a badass on camera and she kicks a lot of a** in the show,” said Russo.
Other than Citadel, the Bajirao Mastani star will be seen in Love Again, an upcoming American comedy-drama film written and directed by James Strouse. In 2021, she also appeared in Netflix's Oscar-nominated picture, The White Tiger.
Purple Pebble Productions, Chopra's production company, has a first-look film and TV agreement with Amazon Studios and has also worked with Paramount Global to develop original content focused on diversity and inclusion for their platform. Clearly, the Dostana actor is ready to take on the world and achieve all of her dreams and is doing a fantastic job at it.
