A suspected robber was shot and injured during a police encounter in Baghbanpura on Monday. Reportedly, three suspicious persons on a motorcycle were intercepted by a police team at a picket.

The cops signalled to stop them. However, they rather than complying by the orders opted to sped up their vehicle and fleeing resorted to firing. the policemen also retaliated.

In exchange of firing, a suspect later identified as Khuram Hanif received injuries while his accomplices ran away.

He was arrested. The suspect reportedly was a history sheeter. A bike recovered from his custody on the crime scene was a stolen one and a case was registered at Lower Mall Police station.

The suspect was also involved in an over Rs380,000 worth of robbery at a petroleum filling station at Band Road few days back.
