Baloch exiled leaders, militants urged to hold talks

Speakers of a seminar highlight steps taken by the provincial government for prosperity of Balochistan

Speakers at a seminar held at Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology in Khuzdar on Saturday stressed on Baloch exiled leaders and militants to lay down arms and come to the negotiating table.

The seminar organised by the university was titled “Prospering Balochistan with Reconciliation”. The speakers highlighted the steps taken by the provincial government for the prosperity of Balochistan.

The participants included member provincial assembly Younis Aziz Zehri, Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Maj (retd) Ilyas Kibzai and Dr Jalal Hussain Shah, and the Registrar Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology. Faculty members of the university, notables and members of civil society also attended the event.

On Thursday, senior political leader Abid Rahim Sohrabi said that the state’s goodwill is essential in Balochistan’s reconciliation process.

He observed that a round table conference should be held for reconciliation process to which all stakeholders should be invited.

He was addressing a seminar titled ‘Reconciliation in Balochistan: Addressing the Grievances of Balochs’ which was organised by the University of Gwadar at its campus.

The keynote speakers and panelists of the seminar included Vice Chancellor University of Gwadar Prof Dr Abdul Razaq Sabir, prominent politicians Mir Ashraf Hussain, Abid Rahim Sohrabi, Khuda Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zakir Ali, social activist and President RCDC Gwadar Nasir Rahim Sohrabi. Moderator of the panel discussion was Registrar Dolat Khan and Director Students Affairs Madam Sadia Naseer.
