Indian veteran star Satish Kaushik passes away at 66

The actor, who had worked in several hits such as Mr. India, Ram Lakhan, died of a heart attack

Indian actor Satish Kaushik passed away at 66, reported Hindustan Times. The actor, who had worked in several hits such as Mr. India, Ram Lakhan, died of a heart attack. 

Two days before his death, Kaushik was spotted celebrating Holi at Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar's home. He even shared photos from the same on Twitter. He was joined at the party by Richa Chadha, Mahima Chaudhary, Ali Fazal and others.

Bollywood pays homage

His peer Anupam Kher confirmed the news of Kaushik's death on Twitter as well. He wrote, "I know death is the ultimate truth of this world! But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend Satish Kaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years! Life will never be the same without you, Satish! Om Shanti."

Kangana Ranaut also tweeted about Satish. “Woke up to this horrible news, he was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director, Satish Kaushik, personally was also a very kind and genuine man, I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be missed, Om Shanti,” she wrote.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, “I am so shocked to hear the demise of actor-director Satish Kaushik ji, who was always vibrant, energetic and full of life, he will be missed immensely by the film fraternity and millions of admires, My deepest condolences to his family members.”

Kareena Kapoor took to her Instagram stories and shared a picture with the caption which read, “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, Milengey Milengey. Extremely heartbroken Satish ji. Thinking of all our times together. Rest in laughter and peace.”

Abhishek Bachchan took to Twitter and wrote, “Shocked to hear of the passing of our beloved Satish Kaushik ji. A most gentle, kind and loving person. Always happy and smiling. A huge loss to our industry. Rest in peace dearest Satish uncle. We will all miss you.”

About Satish Kaushik

The late Indian star was born on April 13, 1956. He went on to become an actor, director, producer, comedian and screenwriter. Kaushik, according to the publication, graduated from Kirori Mal College and was an alumnus of the National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India.

He has acted in films like Ram Lakhan, Saajan Chale Sasural, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and became a household name for his portrayal of Calendar in Shekhar Kapur's Mr. India.
