Prime suspect said to have gone into hiding

BHAKKAR:

Police recovered the remains of a teenager who had been kidnapped a year ago.

Seventeen-year-old Muhammad Akram, a resident of Mohalla Rehmanabad, used to work in the wood market, police said.

They said suspect Aslam, a contractor in the wood market, had allegedly kidnapped the teenager.

Allah Dutta, father of the victim, had reported to the police about his son’s disappearance last year.

Police had been working on the case since the matter had been brought to their attention, and their suspicion ultimately fell on Aslam, the contractor.

However, it appeared that Aslam had allegedly gone into hiding. Nevertheless, police managed to arrest an associate of the suspect in Mianwali.

He was identified as Zaheer who told the police that the body of Mohammad Akram had been buried in a rented house he (Zaheer) had shared with Aslam.

On the identification of Zaheer, police raided the house and exhumed the grave of Akram while forensic evidence was sent to a laboratory in Lahore.

District Police Officer Muhammad Naveed told The Express Tribune that the case had been a challenge for the police, and he had started working on the case from the word go.

He said that police would spare not efforts in arresting the prime suspect.
