Around 100,000 children in slums across eight union councils of Karachi were vaccinated over the last 18 months as part of an immunisation drive under a public-private partnership led by Vital Pakistan Trust and SINA Health, Education and Welfare Trust The project focused on areas with cramped spaces and limited access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare facilities.
Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho emphasised improving access to maternal and child health services. “We will continue to collaborate with the government and expand our immunisation campaign to reach more children,” said Dr Imran Nisar of Vital Pakistan Trust. Its CEO Akbar Jamal Rajani and Dr Rakhshanda Ishaque, and Ambareen Thompson, the CEO of SINA, were those in attendance.
