Ever since the news about Priyanka Chopra starring in Citadel came out, fans have been eagerly waiting for an update – and the wish was answered on Monday. The first look for Prime Video’s global spy series was released on social media and the pictures have only taken the excitement to another level.
The first image showcasing Chopra in a scarlet bodysuit with a gun was enough to get all fans in a frenzy. Another picture in the series shows a glimpse of her profile that marks her character Nadia Sinh as “deceased.”
With suited men in guns, french braids, punches and a romantic gaze locked with Richard Maddens, the first look for the series is giving mystery and ready-for-vengeance vibes.
The images also featured British actor Lesley Manville, who is now revealed as a core series regular alongside previously announced Madden, Chopra and Stanley Tucci.
About why Chopra’s character is deceased, it is pertinent to know the background story of Citadel. According to Deadline, “Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency—tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people—was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra) had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives. They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts.”
Now, the spies will reunite to embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship “built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Citadel will premiere on April 28 with two episodes, followed by a new episode released weekly every Friday through May 26.
