An influential tribal elder was gunned down by unidentified attackers in North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.
The cold blood murder caused widespread panic in the area. Police told The Express Tribune that Malik Remal Wazir was attacked when he was on his way back with his son near Norak, Mir Ali.
“They were in a motor car which was ambushed. Malik Remal Wazir was killed on the spot while his son was badly injured in the attack who has been shifted to the hospital,” said a police official while talking to The Express Tribune.
“The dead body has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital Mir Ali for autopsy.
“Malik Ramal Wazir was no ordinary person. He was the head of a sub-clan of Wazir tribe which is known as Bora Khel Wazir and he had already survived two life attempts,” said the official, adding that the third attack was finally successful and he was killed.
It may be mentioned here that since the start of the Zarb-e-Azb military operation against TTP, hundreds of local residents have been killed in what appear to be targeted attacks.
Local residents accused that police failed to arrested even a single person responsible for the attack. The entire district was in the grip of widespread panic after the recent attack at the tribal elder.
