The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have withdrawn their 93 candidates from the National Assembly by-elections in nine constituencies in Karachi. After the withdrawal of 93 candidates, out of a total of 177 only84 candidates are now in the field.
Meanwhile, two candidates have decided to participate as independents after their party declared to skip the by-polls contest. February 22 was the last date for the withdrawal of candidates. Election symbols will be allotted to the candidates remaining in the field on February 23 (today). Polling will be held on March 16.
