Speakers at a roundtable conference urged Pakistan to aggressively counter New Delhi’s attempts to amend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and retaliate with a pragmatic response and a legal stance with a strong projection of its standpoint.
A roundtable conference titled “Indus Water Treaty Arbitration – Battle over Water Sharing”, took place at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) where several speakers highlighted the issue.
The session was addressed by the keynote speaker former federal secretary Ministry of Water and Power Mirza Hamid Hassan while IPS Chairman Khalid Rahman, former federal secretary of, the Ministry of Water and Power Ashfaq Mahmood, former federal secretary and IPS senior research fellow Syed Abu Ahmad Akif, Centre for International Peace & Stability at National University of Science & Technology Associate Professor Dr Fiaz Hussain Shah, water expert Dr Bashir Lakhani, and legal expert Ameena Sohail also joined the discussion.
