KARACHI:

Judicial Magistrate West extended the physical remand of a suspect involved in a case pertaining to death caused by alleged poisonous gas emissions from a plastic bag recycling factory in Ali Mohammad Goth by five days.

The court of Judicial Magistrate Sajid Chang heard the case of an alleged poisonous gas case in Ali Muhammad Goth. Police presented the arrested plastic factory owner Khair Mohammad.

The investigating officer said the suspect operates a plastic recycling factory. The suspect has neither authority nor license to run the business. The court inquired whether the medical report was obtained, to which the investigating officer said that he had written a letter to the health department.

The court remarked that despite the passing of so many days, matters are still limited to correspondence. The defence lawyer argued that the death of the children was a result of measles. The suspect said he ran a business related to recycling plastic bags. If there were poisonous material, the workers in the warehouse would have died too.

The suspect claimed that deaths were not caused by gas or chemicals but were caused by measles disease. The court extended the suspect's physical remand for five days at the request of IO.
