LAHORE:

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her lover in Gulshan-e-Ravi on Tuesday, reportedly over rejecting a marriage proposal. The suspect, Ehsan, also attempted suicide after committing the homicide offence.

The victim was running a beauty parlor with her mother when the suspect approached it on Tuesday. He allegedly slit the victim’s throat in a brutal manner with a knife, before he turned the knife on himself and attempted suicide. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the suspect had sought the girl’s hand in marriage, but her family refused. He was reportedly frustrated and was motivated to take revenge.

In another incident, a 26-year-old man was gunned down over an old enmity in Nawan Kot. The suspect, Ali Raza, had a dispute with the victim Adnan Dilawar. On Tuesday, Raza allegedly intercepted the victim near his house and opened fire, inflicting fatal injuries.

A police team reached the scene upon receiving information about the incident. When police tried to arrest Raza, he posed resistance and fired on police, which left him injured. He was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect’s brother, Fazal Abbas, was also arrested while trying to flee the crime scene. A pistol was also seized from his custody.

Separately, a 45-year-old woman was found dead in her room in a rented house under suspicious circumstances in Defence-B.

The victim, Faria Bibi, was living in the rented upper portion of a house in Defence Housing Authority and was found dead on her room in Tuesday. A police team rushed to the post and moved the body to a morgue for an autopsy. They also collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements from eye-witnesses.

According to neighbours, the victim moved to the house several months ago. They added that she would often stay home and did not mingle with other people. Police are keeping different angles in mind.
