Perfectly dysfunctional desi family: Fawad Khan's 'Kapoor & Sons' scene is going viral

What is that one brilliant scene that comes to your mind where the actor is yelling? That's the question a tweep asked recently that propelled many Twitter users to share some noteworthy performances by nuanced artists. One of the scenes that went viral was the famous desi household squabble scene from the Bollywood film, Kapoor & Sons. 

The film starred Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Ratna Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and our very own Fawad Khan! In the said sequence, the Kapoors are having a heated argument, which somehow all of us can relate to. Twitterati, as well, went on to comment on how perfectly the actors executed the aforementioned scene.

The OG tweep shared, "Of course, the way this scene is blocked, shot, acted in, and directed is superb, but the reason I keep coming back to it is how it escalates — the back-and-forth jabs, bringing up old mistakes.. How cruel desi families can be to each other. It's chilling."

In a 2016 interview with IBTimes UK, the 41-year-old star shed light on the film. "It' [the Kapoors are] dysfunctional in a way that's very normal. The way it's shot is how we are at home. We love, we hate, and sometimes brothers want to beat up one another."

He added, "The way typically families were shown in Indian cinema there was a certain level of discipline and respect and love, but when it comes to real life stories there is much more to that. There are so many more areas that we can explore."

Khan continued, "It's about relationships between loved ones going haywire and physical distances creating emotional distance between the family and how they overcome it during the journey of the film."

The Humsafar star has worked in several Bollywood films such as Sonam Kapoor's 2014 offering, Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons and 2018's star-studded Karan Johar directorial, Ae Dil Hai Muskil. Since the ban on Pakistani 

He also shared his two cents on Bollywood and Indian fans accepting him even though he's Pakistani. "They've been receptive. I don't see myself as a newcomer to an industry. It's not college where you're in your freshman year and you're dealing with bullying sophomores. I don't think it's like that," he remarked.

"The industry is full of educated people, who have travelled, and are exposed to so much in the world and in the world of work. I'm just another person who's coming there to work. As a newcomer, I don't think if you take the pressure like that you can work so openly. It's been a very good experience." Khan went on to comment, "Everyone's been very warm, very receptive, very caring and very kind. And I think that is hopefully the norm in any industry. If you don't have that, I don't think you can cultivate such performances that you get to see in a film."

The actor concluded by expressing gratitude for his acting prowess being recognised globally. "I'm really happy and very flattered, Surprised to a certain extent," she said. "It's always a surprise to me when someone comes up to me and appreciates my work. I have a very limited body of work so I feel very lucky to have gathered such an audience. I'm very thankful to them. I'm extremely grateful to them for showing such love."
