IG suspends four cops for misuse of power

Punjab police initiated departmental action against five police officials and suspended four of them.

They also removed Saddar superintendent, Nabeel Khokhar, from his position and directed him to report to Central Police Office, Lahore.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) of Police Aamir Zulfiqar Khan issued orders during a meeting on Saturday.

Saddar DSP Waqar Azeem, SHOs of Rawat, Rata Amral and City police stations have been suspended for misuse of power. Sources within the police said the Saddar DSP and Rawat police station SHO were suspended for framing an innocent citizen in a murder case. Saddar SP Nabeel Khokhar was removed from the post over poor performance.

Meanwhile, orders were also issued to establish CIA centres in Rawalpindi region and develop them on modern lines. The top official also ordered double the number of personnel in the CIA unit in Rawalpindi and provide them will adequate resources.

He also said that the CIA officials should be given a six-day training on investigation and handling of inmates in custody at Sihala College.

Khan further said that strict legal action should be taken against those involved in motorcycle theft and aerial firing.
