17-storey IT twin towers project gets CM’s nod

Says initiative will strengthen technology echo system, creates more jobs

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the software industry will provide employment opportunities to the youth a 17-storey IT twin tower project will strengthen technology echo system besides generating revenue.

The chief minister expressed these views as he laid the foundation stone of Arfa Twin Towers Project in in the provincial capital.

The CM received a briefing about the project. The state-of-the-art Arfa Twin Towers will be established on the adjacent land of Arfa Karim IT Park. The Initial cost of this project has been estimated at Rs12 billion. The CM pointed out that the motive behind Arfa Twin Towers project was to promote software industry.

The CM highlighted that the technology echo system was the backbone for the economy of various countries. The underscored that Pakistan cannot afford to lag behind in the IT field adding that it is his dream that latest facilities like Silicon Valley should be provided in the IT sector.

Yousuf Badozai, P&D Board chairman, Lahore commissioner, Secretary Finance, Secretary C&W, DG LDA, PITB chairman, DG e-governance, DG IT Solutions, DG Protocol Ansar Nazir and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, during cheques distributing ceremony among the bar associations, the CM said the Sharif family ruled over the country for such a long period of time but cannot buy a vegetable by visiting alone.

He said through Quran-e-Kareem Portal perversion and disgrace to the Quran Kareem would be eliminated through an automated mechanism. The CM highlighted Public Defender Act was being presented to redress and advocate the problems of a common man.

Cheques amounting to Rs200 million were being distributed on behalf of the Punjab government to the Supreme Court Bar, Punjab Bar, High Court Bar, District and Tehsil Bars.

Earlier, the CM chaired a consultative meeting at his office in which Speaker Punjab Assembly Muhammad Sibtain Khan, Shibli Faraz, Basharat Raja, Hashim Jawan Bakht and Mehmoodul Hassan were present.

The participants exchanged views about the nomination of the caretaker chief minister and the political situation. The committee set up for the caretaker CM informed about the lack of cooperation from the opposition. The chief minister expressed disappointment over the opposition's “non-serious” stance on the nomination of the caretaker CM and the controversy it has caused.
