Nine ‘land grabbers’ held in federal capital

Operations CPO said land-grabbing would not be tolerated

Capital police Thursday apprehended nine alleged land grabbers during an operation against what they called the land grabbing mafia.

According to a police spokesperson, an operation is currently under way against land grabbers following the directions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan.

He also said police personnel swung into action after a citizen sought help from the police to save his property from the alleged grabbers. Upon receiving the information, the Sihala police team immediately responded and arrested nine accused, he added.

Police team also seized a vehicle used by the land grabbers, the spokesperson said and added that a case has been registered against the nabbed accused and further investigation is under way.

The accused were identified as Abdullah, Haji Alam, Mena Zada, Alam Khan, Saman Gul, Gul Hakim, Sultan Wali, Wali khan and Muhammad Wali.

Meanwhile, operations CPO said that land-grabbing would not be tolerated and indiscriminate action would continue against those who illegally occupy citizens’ land.
