JI to observe ‘thanksgiving day’

Sirajul Haq to visit Karachi to thank citizens for reposing trust in Jamaat

Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi head Hafiz Naeemur-Rehman has said that the process of reducing the seats won by JI in the name of recounting should be stopped.

Addressing a press conference at Idara Noore-eHaq he said that the Election Commission of Pakistan should immediately take action against these Returning Officers (ROs) and Deputy Returning Officers (DROs) who are filling bogus ballot papers by forging and improperly opening the seals of ballot bags.

These officials are conducting recount without Form 11 and 12. All these government personnel are being used in favor of the Peoples Party, Rehman said.

Rehman vowed to secure success in all the union councils won by the party in the local government elections in the city and announced to observe Youme Tashakkur or a day of thanks on Sunday January 20.

Speaking on the occasion, Engr Naeemur Rehman, flanked by the local leadership, announced that the JI Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq will also visit the city in order to thank Karachiites for their expression of trust in the JI.

The JI leader also announced to launch a mass contact campaign in the city in order to resolve the burning issues of Karachiites even before taking their oath. The JI workers will also thank Karachiites for their support to the JI, he added.

Jamaat-e-Islami workers demonstrated at the Federal Urdu University Gulshan Iqbal Campus on University Road. During protest, unknown persons burnt tires on University Road and blocked the road, due to the protest there was a worst traffic jam on University Road. The fourth demonstration was held under Jamaat-e-Islami at Malir Halt where protesters shouted slogans against the government. Meanwhile, SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur along with a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and water cannon was also called.

Due to the protests across the city, most of the city’s highways, including Shaara-e Faisal, Manghopir Road and others faced worst traffic jam. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in the traffic jam and the citizens were facing serious problems. The situation returned to normal after end of the protests.
