Mast the band, comprising of Samad Khaliq and Sheharyar Shehzad, has dropped its debut single, Tanha Rehne Do. The track, released on New Year’s Day, is a tragic love ballad that’ll tug at your heartstrings.

It plays around the declaration, “Today, my heart is sad / Today, leave me alone.” The song is a soft reminder that it doesn’t always take elaborate guitar solos or vocal acrobatics to create magic. Its also the quintessential heartbreak anthem that speaks of relationships, losing oneself in the other and eventually, begging the other to choose differently.

It’s simple yet grounded in its approach. And one can’t help but notice the track, alongside its music video is reminiscent of so many 90s songs. The dim lighting, monochrome aesthetic and flashbacks, takes one back to the good ol’ days. The act has promised it is also set to release more songs in the near future.

“Eight other tracks are under production which are very different from one another, offering a new kind of music for every one,” the duo shared with The Express Tribune. As for Mast, they informed, “It’s a musical journey that started by accident and moves with the soul.”

The YouTube description for the song reads, “Memories are blessings and memories are curses. You have felt the same too when you’re loved one was upset.  It's relatable, the world seems pale and nothing excites. One person can mean the world to us and without them, life can become meaningless. Don't let those people go. Forget the bad things and hold hands with the people who love you. Never let them go.”

Tanha Rehne Do has garnered over 12,000 views on YouTube.
