The official trailer for the much-awaited rom-com film Babylicious is out and it's everything fans hoped for.

Full of mesmerising dreamy shots and a tear-jerker storyline for the hopeless romantics, the teaser lives up to the expectations of viewers who were long craved to see an old-school romance on the big screens again, only this time, with a modern twist.

As the two-minute clip begins, we are taken to a vibrant sunflower field, where Sabiha (Syra Yousuf) asks her beloved, Omar (Shahroz Sabzwari), to commit to her for a lifetime. She says, “Promise me, you will never leave me,” and he replies, “Never”. Moving on, Omar appears to have kept his word.

We see a series of shots filled with colours and love, as the two embrace each other. Unfortunately, like most love stories, slowly the cracks in their relationship start to appear and the reality bites back, leaving the two lovebirds heartbroken. After one of the characters loudly says, "Life is not a Karan Johar movie, wake up!" the plot breaks away from the fairytale narrative, into a completely different light.

What's most intriguing about Babylicious is the well-thought-out cinematography, it's the contrast between the rich, dreamy, and vibrant shots with the dark, gloomy lighting that sets the entire tone of the trailer from cheerful to blue.

Now that Omar realises his fantasy love is over, he adopts various comedic theatrics to win Sabiha back, yet they don't work out in his favour. Instead of succeeding to woo her, he hears the daunting four words that every desi is afraid of. "Meri Baat Pakki Hogayi Hai (I'm engaged to someone else)," says Sabiha, leaving Omar heartbroken but determined to win her back.

Keeping his promise, Omar doesn't stop his chase, despite the challenges in front of him. Will he succeed in gaining back his lover's confidence? We will have to watch the movie to find out!

The contemporary young adult romance is already winning fans over as they can't wait to see their favourite ex-couple back on the screens together.

Directed by Essa Khan, Babylicious is set to screen in theatres in February. Other than Sabzwari and Yousuf, the film stars Ankur Rathee, Aadi Adeal Amjad, Shehzeen Rahat, Sabeena Syed and Adnan Jaffer in pivotal roles.
