K-P ‘revolutionises’ healthcare system

CM underscored that a project had been initiated to revamp the non-teaching district hospitals

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that the provincial government has taken “pragmatic steps” to develop the health sector on modern lines and to ensure access of common citizens to quality healthcare. A statement issued here from the Chief Minister Secretariat noted that initiatives had been taken to align the healthcare system in accordance with the needs and expectations of the people.

The statement maintained that the measures included setting up of state-of-the-art clinical skills laboratory in Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), establishment of modular operation theaters in tertiary healthcare facilities and revamping of non-teaching district headquarter hospitals across the province. CM Mahmood observed that the incumbent provincial government was striving for the establishment of a welfare state, noting that various reforms and uplift schemes had been introduced for the purpose.

“Up-gradation of basic healthcare facilities, provision of medical equipment to healthcare centres, recruitment of doctors, uplifting of tertiary hospitals, extension of Sehat Card to 100 per cent population of the province and many other reforms resulted in uniform access to efficient healthcare services.” The CM underscored that a project had been initiated to revamp the non-teaching district hospitals.
