ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given a final one-week deadline to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for holding intra-party elections.

A three-member commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, held a hearing regarding the intra-party elections of the political parties at the ECP.

The ECP gave the final deadline to the PML-N for holding the party elections and made it clear that if the elections were not held within the stipulated period, the electoral symbol of the party would be withdrawn.

The CEC wondered how the party that could not hold internal elections conduct general elections.
