KARACHI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentary Leader in the Sindh Assembly Khurrum Sher Zaman led a delegation of fellow PTI MPAs on Friday to meet AIG Police Karachi Javed Alam Odho to discuss the worsening street crime situation in Karachi.

Sher Zaman and the PTI delegation expressed their serious concerns to AIG Police Karachi about the rising number of street crimes in Karachi and the failure of the Karachi Police Force to combat them.

Also, the PTI delegation wanted to follow up on their meeting back in September in which other serious matters on policing and law and order were discussed.

Zaman handed another letter to AIG Police Karachi Javed Alam Odho. The letter mentions that during the past 11 months of this year, 81,000 incidents of street crime incidents were reported in Karachi. Plus, a total of 518 people were severely injured or killed resisting street crimes so far this year.

Furthermore, the letter pointed out that the theft of vehicles and mobile phone snatching continues unabated in Karachi.

During the first 11 months of 2022, at least 52,000 motorcycles were stolen and snatched, as well as 2,000 vehicles, whereas 26,400 Karachiites were deprived of mobile phones. The meeting focused on the Karachi Police strategy to combat street crimes and to receive a response from AIG Police Karachi on the other issues raised in the previous letter of September 16, 2022, as no response was received so far.
