More than 2,500 police officers and jawans to perform security duties around the area

Police have allowed people to gather at Sea View Beach to welcome New Year at midnight

Undaunted by terror threats and crime spree, people of the port city will gather on the beachfront to throw the worries to the wind and welcome 2023.

"More than 2,500 police officers and jawans will perform security duties around Sea View," said DIG South Irfan Baloch talking to The Express Tribune. Mounted police and over 150 women constables will also be on duty around Sea View from 10pm to 2am he said.

"Citizens can celebrate the New Year by visiting their favourite entertainment place, Sea View. However, extraordinary security measures will be taken on New Year's Night.

DIG Baloch said that citizens should celebrate the New Year within the limits of law, "hooliganism will not be allowed at any cost."

He said that, aerial firing during the New Year celebrations will not be tolerated and strict penal action will be taken against those who fired in the air. Case of attempt to murder will be registered against the person involved in aerial firing.

Similarly, one-wheeling on bike and drifting in cars will not be allowed on the occasion of New Year. "Celebrate decently no one will stop you," DIG Baloch said.
