Special CTP squads to perform duty on New Year’s Eve

Plan devised to prevent one-wheeling, car-skating incidents

The City Traffic Police (CTP), Rawalpindi has prepared a comprehensive plan to prevent one-wheeling and provide the best traffic facilities to the citizens on the eve of New Year.

More than 320 traffic police personnel will be on special duty while seven special squads have also been formed to prevent one-wheeling and car-skating incidents.

Sources said, acting on the orders of Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer Taimur Khan, Muhammad Waseem, the duty officer at the Traffic Headquarters, has prepared a comprehensive and systematic traffic plan for different tehsils including Rawalpindi to provide the best traffic facilities to the citizens on the New Year’s Eve.

The seven special squads of the CTP will be seen in action on Mall Road, Peshawar Road, Bank Road, Jhelum Road, Old Airport Road, Murree Road and 6th Road in addition to other important highways and will take legal action against the violators of traffic laws.

The Christian community celebrates its religious festival on New Year's Eve, for which special arrangements have been made and additional traffic police have been deployed at the churches and other religious places.

Besides, traffic officials will be on duty to maintain the flow of traffic at parks and recreational areas.

On this occasion, Rawalpindi CTO Taimur Khan has issued special orders to all the circle and sector in-charges to make the security fool-proof in the city by ensuring the performance of duties with teamwork and complete coordination.

The CTO directed continued action against vehicles with tinted glasses, unregistered vehicles and vehicles having non-specimen number plates.

He further said that all traffic police officers and youths should perform their duties with hard work and responsibility on significant days and provide all kinds of traffic facilities to the people. In this regard, any kind of negligence and carelessness will not be tolerated, he added.

The CTO also appealed to the parents to keep an eye on their children on New Year's Eve and avoid giving them a bike or car at a young age to avoid any kind of trouble.
