The port city in grip of chilling north-eastern winds saw temperatures dipping to 9.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday with a drop to 8 degrees Celsius expected on Monday.
Gusts of cold winds blowing all the way from Siberia traversing thousands of miles over the steppe of Central Asia and crossing over Afghanistan finally entered Balochistan to give a parting kiss to Karachi as they disseminate in the sea.
People of Karachi were left shivering at 9.9 degrees Celsius as these tempests from Tundra, known in the south as Quetta Wind, made last stop in the otherwise hot and humid city.
The north-eastern winds blowing south from Balochistan at maximum wind velocity of 40km per hour pulled the mecury down to single digit. People rushed to soup shops and enjoyed other winter delights like gajar ka halwa and milk coffee on food streets.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department the cold wave is likely to persist for the next three days. There is a chance of minimum temperature at 8 degree on Monday (Today).
According to the early warning centre, the weather is expected to remain cool and dry across the province, fog may occur in the districts of central and upper Sindh in the morning.
