SHC orders FIR against squatters in land-grab case

Court seeksa reply from DIG East and SHO Superhighway Industrial Area police station

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered registration of an FIR against the occupier of the State Bank of Pakistan Cooperative Housing Society land in KDA Scheme 33 while directing the Deputy Commissioner to raze all encroachments within 30 days.

Appearing before a two-judge bench, headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, the petitioner’s counsel stated that squatters have taken over his client’s land in KDA Scheme 33, Sector 8-A. He further submitted that the police authorities were reluctant to take action against the squatters despite court rulings.

The court sought a reply from DIG East and SHO Superhighway Industrial Area police station. The bench also ordered registration of an FIR against the squatters. The judges directed the SHO to record the petitioner’s statement.
