RAWALPINDI:

A state-of-the-art 100-bedded hospital was inaugurated on Friday at Chakri Jorian in Rawalpindi to cater to the needs of the district’s growing population.

According to sources, the outpatient department of the new hospital will start receiving patients by the following month while the overall hospital will be fully functional by March of the upcoming year.

The new hospital will have an emergency department, an OPD besides a maternal, neonatal, and labour room.

The project has been completed at a cost of Rs800 million. On the other hand, a Rescue 1122 service has also been launched for Jorian, Chack Beli Khan, and Chontra with a cost of Rs10 million.

Renovation of the new hospital has been started after completion of the building, sources said adding that 140 new recruitments will be started by the next month.

Approval and funds for these seats have been released, they added.

In the new recruitments, 30 senior professors and doctors for all departments will be hired. A fund of Rs147 million has been released for the purchase of modern machinery and equipment for the hospital.

The modern hospital also has a state-of-the-art lab, surgical machinery, a radiology department and operation theaters.

The sources said this modern hospital is spread over 93 kanals of land.

They said as the hospital is located near the motorway and GT Road, people injured in traffic accidents can be shifted to the hospital immediately.

Due to the heavy traffic pressure on the roads, there was a delay of hours in bringing the injured from the motorway and GT Road to Rawalpindi city.

This hospital will save the precious lives of patients and time of rescue personnel.

Former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan inaugurated the new hospital whose foundation stone he had laid.
