PESHAWAR:

A high-level meeting was held on Saturday to review the status of extortion calls being received by local traders in Peshawar.

The meeting was chaired by Advisor to Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Baber Saleem Swati and attended by CCPO Peshawar Ijaz Khan, SSP, Director Home Department Haleem Shah, MPA Malik Wajid and traders.

Swati said that providing protection to traders and businessmen was the responsibility of the government, and local residents as well as traders could file their complaints about extortion online on the home department website.

“We are installing CCTV cameras at all important spots of Peshawar including Hayatabad Phase I and funds are being released to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on divisional and central level,” he said.
