Immediate notice: CPNE vows to fight for press freedom

Secretary-General Aamir Mehmood and other office-bearers have condemned the issuance of arrest warrants.

The president of the Council of Newspaper Editors (CPNE), Khushnud Ali Khan, Secretary-General Aamir Mehmood and other office-bearers have condemned the issuance of arrest warrants of the chief editor of K2 in Gilgit-Baltistan and attack and violence on the journalists associated with Pashto TV channel Khyber News and asked the prime minister to take immediate notice of such incidents. They said cases against journalists be closed. They have also demanded the prime minister to take notice of the unfair actions of the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan against newspapers and journalists that disclosed his incapability and financial corruption. Condemning such actions, the CPNE leaders that such actions are tantamount to barring the freedom of the press.
