The duo has been collaborating on songs for a while

Congratulations are in order for Pakistan’s first female rapper Eva B! The Kana Yaari singer got engaged to musician Mudassar Qureshi on Sunday. The two have previously released a few songs together.

Eva B posted a series of pictures and videos from her engagement on social media. While there were no formal pictures, the Rozi singer shared videos of her henna-drawn hands, the engagement rings, flowers, her overjoyed eyes, and a cake that read, “Happy engagement, S (loves) M.”

The hijabi rapper captioned the post with a simple ring emoji and an evil eye emoji while tagging her now-fiance. Assessing from the glimpses, the rapper was dressed to the nines in a pastel shalwar kameez with silver embellishments all over. She accessorised it with a heavy necklace of the same colours.

Well, now we know the rapper’s real name begins with S. She has been using a pseudonym for privacy concerns but even that is thoughtful. In an earlier interview with The Guardian, she revealed that the pseudonym ‘Eva’ is a tribute to the first woman on Earth, Eve. Like Eve, Eva B too is the first female rapper from Pakistan. Meanwhile, the letter “B” denotes her Baloch identity. She is also known by the name “Gully Girl.”

Eva B, who comes from an urban-slum settlement of Lyari, is known for consistently breaking glass ceilings with her powerful music. Her lesser-known fame came in limelight after her recent collaboration with Coke Studio’s Kana Yaari featuring Kaifi Khalil and Abdul Wahab Bugti. The folk Balochi song has been racking up millions of views on YouTube for its groovy beat despite the theme based on a raged betrayal.

She has lent her raps to songs by Qureshi since 2020. The two have released Kehndi (2020), Mosiki (2021), and Siyasi (2021) so far. This year, she dropped Mukhtasir Baatein (2021), Bayani Rog (2022), and Khushnawees (2022).
