The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has granted NOC for the launching of development schemes in PP-14, the constituency of Punjab Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Environment, Muhammad Basharat Raja, with Rs760 million funds approved by the Punjab government.
The funds will be used by the Punjab Local Government while the RCB will monitor the quality of the development projects. The provincial minister for parliamentary affairs also approved a grant of Rs320 million to the RCB for separate water supply schemes.
The board meeting chaired by President Cantonment Board, Brigadier Salman Nazar, on Sunday, considered an application moved by Basharat Raja, asking for the issuance of NOC to start work on the development schemes about creating roads, streets and sewerage facilities in his constituency under the Punjab Local Government with provincial funds of Rs760 million.
The board meeting issued the NOC in the name of the Punjab Local Government and declared that the RCB itself will supervise the quality and timely completion of these development schemes.
Moreover, the provincial minister for environment and parliamentary affairs also approved the release of funds of Rs320 million from the Punjab government to the RCB for water supply schemes in various areas of the cantonment. The said funds can be utilised through the RCB.
It should be noted that due to the limited resources at the RCB’s disposal, work on basic urban development schemes is being done on a very limited scale and the board has to depend on grants from the federal and provincial governments for the development schemes.
