'Musharraf should have been treated like McChrystal'

PML-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif said that Musharraf was given safe passage because of an understanding with President Zardari.

PML-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif said that former President Pervez Musharraf was given safe passage because of an understanding with President Asif Ali Zardari.He said that Musharraf should have been treated like US Commander General McChrystal.

Addressing Pary workers in Sialkot on Saturday, Sharif also alleged that President Zardari and Musharraf are safeguarding each other under a deal.

Nawaz Sharif strongly criticised the government for not implementing court's Verdict on controversial NRO and said that his party will pressurise the government to implement court orders.

Nawaz Sharif also alleged that Law minister Babar Awan is bribing bars to earn their support against the judiciary. He also criticised the use of air force's chartered plane by the Law minister.

Sharif assured that his party would continue to follow Charter of Democracy.

Pakistan will either fail and collapse under the huge debt that keeps on increasing year on year, or it will be over taken by the fundamentalists who will love to make it another Afghanistan !!!! and the Americans will be busy fighting terrorism in the region for the next 100 years !!!

There is no accountibility for such people in Pakistan. Corrupt Politicians and corrupt industrials have eaten up Pakistan's money. Wait for few days and you will hear the news that they have to return the lootedmoney back to the government.

Mateen People like you always talk about feudals but not about the mafioso industrialist who use their ill gotten wealth to bribe their way into politics and then subvert the system to get more wealth and reach the top. DO YOU THINK PM OF INDIA CAN DO THAT, have billions abroad and pay 5000 in personal wealth tax. And don't hide behind khaki intervention mantra. Our politicians even in 50s were greedy and busy in getting lands allotted to them illegally when Indians were building foundation of democracy. DON'T believe me, read papers from that era. The tragedy is that we don't learn from history and think people like nawaz, zardari and gilani deserve another chance. I blame our population for NOT snatching their dues from these hypocrites.

Syed A. Mateen | 13 years ago | Reply Politically, Pakistan is an immature country. This is one of the reasons that whenever politicians show immaturity, Army takes over the control of the country. We cannot compare democracy of US and Pakistan. We should compare an apple with an apple. Unless feudal lords will rule the country and institutions are not strengthened, Army take over in Pakistan cannot be ruled out in future as well. Instead of comparing Pakistan's democracy with US, Mian Mohammad Nazwaz Sharif should compare Pakistan's democracy with India, where Army never interfere in country’s politics despite the fact that there was a change in government in as less as 13 days. How can one get a better feeling about strengthening of democratic process in Pakistan when elections does not take place even in the political parties itself? People of Pakistan did not got sick and tired with General (R) Pervez Musharraf during his nine years rule in the country comparing to two years PPP rule during which middle class has been completely eliminated and moved to poor class. It will take another 250 years for Pakistan to relieve a serving Army General in a similar manner as US Commander General McChrystal was relieved from his duties after his controversial statement to Rolling Stone Magazine. .
