KARACHI:

Unannounced gas load-shedding caused another blast at a house in Ittehad Town on Thursday in which a woman and her four children were seriously injured.

Husn Nisa, 30, was cooking food. She did not know that gas supply was suspended and the gas knob of the hearth was not turned off. When the supply was restored, the gas accumulated in the house. As soon as Husn Nisa lit the match stick, a loud explosion occurred as a result she and her four children Hasan, 9, Aqsa, 11, Ansa, 8, and Hasnain, 12, received serious burn injuries. The explosion was so loud that spread panic in the area. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital.

It may be mentioned that in addition to daily night-long load shedding from 11pm to 6am the SSGC suspends supply of gas any time during the day without any announcement.
