Over 180 people were killed and more than 150 others were injured in 215 traffic accidents in the city during the current year so far.
The highest number of 91 traffic accidents took place in district west which claimed 69 lives while 77 people were injured. Similarly, 41 people lost their lives due to collision with trucks while 10 were injured.
The maximum number of 141 accidents involved motorcycles, in which 110 proved fatal as 130 were killed while 84 were injured.
According to the statistics released by the Traffic Police, a total of 184 people died and 152 were injured in 215 traffic accidents in different areas of the city from January 1 to November 27, 2022.
The highest number of 91 traffic accidents occurred in Traffic Zone West, in which 69 people died while 77 were injured. In district Malir, a total of 36 traffic accidents took place out of which 34 proved fatal claiming 41 lives while 29 were injured. According to the data, Traffic Zone of district east reported 26 accidents which claimed 21 lives while 13 people were injured. Similarly, a total of 19 traffic accidents took place in district central in which 18 people lost their lives and nine were injured. A total of 17 traffic accidents took place in Korangi in which 14 people lost their lives while nine sustained injuries. Around 20 traffic accidents occurred in district south in which 16 people died and 12 were injured, while in the city district, three people were injured in six traffic accidents.
According to traffic police data, the maximum number of 35 traffic accidents occurred in collision with trucks, in which 41 people lost their lives and 10 people were injured. Similarly, 23 traffic accidents occurred due to collision with trailer in which 20 people died and 15 were injured. A total of 21 accidents occurred due to collision with water tankers in which 14 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured. Likewise, 15 people died and eight were injured in 17 accidents due to collision with dumpers, and 17 accidents occurred due to collision with oil tankers in which 15 citizens lost their lives while 19 others were injured.
A total of 14 traffic accidents occurred due to the collision with buses in which 12 people died and four were injured. Moreover, 12 people died and 31 were injured in 16 accidents that took place due to collision with minibuses and five people died in eight traffic accidents due to collision with coaches.
According to the data, 19 people died and 16 were injured in 23 traffic accidents due to the collision between cars and jeeps. While 20 people were killed and five were injured in a total of 20 traffic accidents due to the collision with unidentified vehicles.
As many as 10 accidents occurred due to collision with motorcycles in which four people died and five were injured. Similarly, six people died and nine others were injured in 10 traffic accidents due to the collision with Suzuki pickups. Motorcyclists are the most reported victims of traffic accidents. According to the data, 110 out of 141 traffic accidents involving motorcycles proved fatal during the current year, in which a total of 130 citizens lost their lives while 84 were injured.
