Police reports 14 encounters in week

Says two suspects killed, 13 injured in shootouts

Cops and robbers had 14 shootouts during the week, a spokesman to the Karachi police said in a statement on Sunday.

Two suspects were killed, 17 were arrested including 13 in injured condition during the reported encounters, the spokesman said. During the shootouts, police recovered two stolen cars and eight snatched motorcycles from suspects in various incidents. Besides the encounters, police arrested more than 849 suspects during raids in the East, West and South Zones of Karachi police in a week.

Police recovered 18 weapons of different types from different suspects which were sent to forensic laboratory for test.

During operation against drug trafficking, police seized more than 100kgs of hashish, heroin and methamphetamine ice drug, besides 17 bottles of liquor in separate incidents.

Separately, the Special Investigation Unit Karachi arrested 13 suspects and recovered two pistols with loaded magazine, 53kgs of hashish, 1kg heroin, three snatched bikes and a stolen car.

The Karachi police recovered total 47 motorcycles and six cars stolen or snatched from different areas of the city. According to the Police, actions taken by the Karachi Police to eradicate crime, restore law and order and protect the public will continue.

Boat Basin shootout

Two suspects, Azhar and Amjad, were shot and injured in a shootout with the police in the Boat Basin area. According to the Boat Basin police officials, ASI Faisal was injured.

As per police sources, the suspects had shot and killed a youth on Khayaban-e-Nisaht recently.
