Threat of floods in Peshawar, neighbouring areas minimised

Express June 26, 2010

PESHAWAR:

The water level in River Kabul has reduced, minimising the threat of floods in Peshawar and its neighbouring areas.

Recent heavy rains  in Peshawar and adjoining areas had raised fears of the threat of floods in River Kabul, Shah Alam, and Nagumaan.

Flood warnings had been issued in Jogni, Shoghali Payan, Shoghali Bala, Kyanari and other areas.

Quick response committees and Irrigation department teams are monitoring the situation in the area.

The DCO of Peshawar has said all safety measures have been taken to avoid any crisis in the area.
