Four terror suspects apprehended by CTD

Punjab CTD conducted nine intelligence-based operations in various districts across the province to effectively thwart any incident of terrorism.

During raids, four suspected terrorists were arrested and weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials were recovered from their possession, a spokesman said.

The arrested terrorists were identified as Ali Raza, Ali Akbar, Zaheer Mehmood and Nik Muhammad, who belong to various banned organizations including Al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and others. The spokesperson added that 37 pamphlets of banned organizations, one receipt book, 3 magazines and Rs8,470 in cash were seized from the suspects.

The spokesman alleged that the suspects had planned sabotage across the province and aimed to target important installations and religious places, adding that during this week, 327 combing operations were conducted with the aid of local police and law enforcement agencies. During these operations, 14,320 people were checked, 42 suspects were arrested, 39 FIRs were registered and 24 recoveries were made, he added.

The spokesperson said that CTD Punjab is diligently pursuing its goal of a safe Punjab and will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to bring terrorists and anti-state elements to task. The public were urged to call CTD Punjab Helpline 0800-11111 in case of emergencies, he concluded.
