Suspects killed a man, injured sons in botched robbery bid

A man as was killed and his two sons were injured when suspects opened fire on them for putting up resistance during a mugging bid in Surjani Town.

However, the locals overpowered the suspects and tortured them to death. As per officials of Surjani police station, two suspects riding a motorcycle tried to rob Zeeshan Saleem, 25, outside his home in Sector Seven A of Surjani Town.

Meanwhile, his father Saleem Zameer, 60, came out and seeing the robbers picked up a stick and attacked them.

Hearing the commotion, Saleem’s other son, Nauman also came out and tried to overpower the suspects. Seeing the situation, the suspects opened fired indiscriminately, killing Saleem and Zeeshan and Nauman.

Hearing the gunshots, the area residents gathered and caught the two robbers who had ran out of bullets. The enraged crowd subjected the two suspects to severe torture killing them on the sport.

As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Saleem used to work as a quilt maker near the New Karachi Allahwali bus stop.

The deceased and his family had recently shifted to Sector Seven A. Police officials further said that weapons, motorcycles and other items had been recovered from the dead suspects.

Residents of the area told The Express Tribune that the incidents had increased significantly in Sector Seven A. This was the third incident in recent days, and the same accused were involved. A citizen present at the crime scene said the suspects had robbed his house earlier.

Locals appealed to IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon and Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho to increase police patrolling in their area and take measures to eradicate street crimes.
