HYDRABAD:

Political parties need to work together to solve the issue nagging the nation instead of indulging in blame games, said Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori.

In a rare meeting between a Sindhi nationalist party, Qomi Awami Tehreek, and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Tessori said, "we need to change the system and this will only become possible when we all are on the same page."

Tessori called on Qomi Awami Tehreek President Ayaz Latif Palijo at his residence in Hyderabad on Friday along with MQM-P Hyderabad leaders.

Tessori and Palijo before talking to the media exchanged views on the prevailing social and political situation, especially the plight of rain-affected people and agreed to extend their cooperation.

Commenting on the appointment of Gen Syed Asim Munir as the chief of army staff, Tessori said the senior most army officer has been appointed to that post. "We are making efforts to turn Sindh into a place of peace, justice, and harmony," he said.

He further noted that the country is facing a financial crisis, which called for joint efforts by all stakeholders to cope with the challenges.

Palijo underscored the need for cooperation among all the stakeholders to overcome the economic and political challenges haunting the people of the country. He demanded that all illegal immigrants should be sent back to their home countries.

"You should approach the Centre and NADRA to stop the issuance of fake CNIC cards and domiciles to illegal immigrants," Palijo asked the governor.

He lamented that the rain and flood-affected people are not only facing severe problems in the restoration of their livelihoods, but many illnesses are also taking a toll on their lives.

He requested the governor to play his role in influencing the provincial government to drain the rainwater from the submerged villages and agricultural fields.

He said the Centre should do justice to Sindh wwith regards to natural resources, power and gas supply, employment, and education.

Palijo urged the authorities not to spare the deputy commissioners and other government officers who are found involved in the multibillion-rupee alleged corruption in the M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway project.

The local leaders of MQM-P led by MPA Rashid Khilji accompanied the governor at the Palijo house. Tessori later visited Akbari Sports Ground in Latifabad, where he was invited as the chief guest in Abdul Munaf Nizamani Football Tournament.
