Citizen killed in cops-muggers gunfight

As soon as the robbers spotted police, they opened fire on them

A passer-by was killed in a gunfight between police and suspected muggers in Federal B Area on the night between Thursday and Friday. Motorcycle-borne suspected robbers were looting a man at a roadside restaurant near UBL Sports Complex close to Sagheer Center when a police party reached there.

As soon as the robbers spotted police, they opened fire on them. Two young men were injured by their firing as the shooters managed to escape. The injured were rushed to hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries. He belonged to Quetta. The injured, Suleman, 23, said that he was near Sagheer Center with his relative Syed Samiullah, 26, to meet a common friend when the firefight happened.

According to police, six muggers came on three motorcycles. They pulled over near the restaurant and three of them started looting people. Some police officials in civvies present on the spot started aerial firing. The muggers panicked and opened indiscriminate fire. They managed to flee while two passersby were wounded. Police are investigating the incident.
